Rico Barcelona
An Ulster University brief
Brand identity for Rico, a flexitarian restaurant in Barcelona.
Rico combines a modern, green-focused menu with a bio diverse rooftop garden where seasonal ingredients are grown. The restaurant embraces a flexitarian philosophy, centered on whole, plant-based foods with moderate inclusion of meat, fish, dairy, and eggs.
For the visual identity, I drew inspiration from the characterful street signage of Barcelona and the organic forms found in Gaudi's architecture, using these influences to inform the shapes and movement throughout the design.
The "flexi" ethos is also reflected in the playful tone of voice and in the fluid lines that run through the branding, echoing the restaurant’s adaptable and vibrant spirit.




The brand voice takes on a playful tone to express its flexitarian approach.




Typography is inspired by Barcelona’s street signs, creating a sense of familiarity for locals.
